Free online viewer
PUB viewer — view Publisher files online, on any device
A PUB viewer is a free online tool that opens Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files without Publisher installed. Drop a .pub file and read every page in your browser — no download, no account. It works the same on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, iPhone, and Android, and keeps working after Publisher retires on October 13, 2026.

Three steps
How to view a PUB file online in three steps
- Choose your .pub file. Drag it onto the viewer above, or click “Choose files.” No install, no signup, no email.
- See every page. Your file renders in seconds, with a thumbnail rail you can click through and a full-size stage to read each page.
- Reading is free. Stay as long as you like. Only when you want an editable or archival copy does the one-time unlock come in.
Why this exists
Microsoft’s own answer: “Publisher doesn’t have a viewer”
There has never been a free standalone Publisher viewer. If you don’t own Publisher, Microsoft’s support page says the quiet part out loud:
“Publisher doesn’t have a viewer.”— support.microsoft.com, “Where is the Publisher viewer?”
Its workaround is to install a 2013 Publisher trial — Windows-only, and gone the day Publisher retires. This page is the viewer that support article says doesn’t exist: it opens the file in your browser, so there’s nothing to install and nothing to expire. For the full walkthrough, see how to open a .pub file without Publisher.
Any device
View Publisher files on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, and mobile
Windows
Any browser — Edge, Chrome, Firefox. No Publisher install and no 2013 trial to hunt down.
Mac
Publisher never had a Mac version. The viewer opens .pub files on macOS just like anywhere else — no Parallels, no Windows license.
Chromebook
ChromeOS can’t install Publisher or the desktop converters. This runs in the tab it already has.
iPhone & iPad
Open a .pub from Mail or Files in Safari: tap Choose files and every page renders on screen.
Android
Same in Chrome for Android — pick the file and read it. Nothing from the Play Store required.
| Can run Microsoft Publisher? | Opens .pub in this viewer? | |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Yes | Yes |
| Mac | No — never had a Mac version | Yes |
| Chromebook | No | Yes |
| iPhone & iPad | No | Yes (read-only) |
| Android | No | Yes (read-only) |
It works everywhere because the viewer runs in the browser, not as an installed app. That’s the same reason it keeps working after October 2026, when the machines that still have Publisher start disappearing.
Beyond viewing
When looking isn’t enough: convert what you can see
Viewing is free and unlimited. When you need to keep a file — edit next month’s newsletter, or archive a flyer so it opens forever — one payment of $29 unlocks the exports: full-resolution searchable PDF, editable Word (DOCX), and SVG. The DOCX is an honest content rescue — your text arrives fully editable with a snapshot of each page for reference, not a frame-perfect clone. Files are processed to build your previews and deleted from the server within 2 hours.
One-time purchase
$29 once · not a subscription
Drop a whole folder and view it all free; one payment converts every file you found — this session and later.
- Bulk mode — drop a whole folder of .pub files at once
- Full-resolution PDF with selectable, searchable text
- Editable DOCX (your text and images, not a flattened picture)
- SVG and plain-text exports
- Works before and after the October 13, 2026 shutdown
- 7-day money-back guarantee — refunded if the converted output isn’t usable
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Microsoft Publisher viewer?
Microsoft's own support page states 'Publisher doesn't have a viewer.' This page is a free one: drop any .pub file and it renders every page in your browser, on any operating system, with no install and no signup.
How do I view a .pub file online without Publisher?
Open this page, drop your .pub file onto the viewer (or tap Choose files), and it renders in seconds. Nothing is installed and no account is needed. Reading every page is free.
Can I view Publisher files on a Mac or Chromebook?
Yes, identically to Windows. The viewer is browser-based, so macOS and ChromeOS — neither of which can run Publisher — open .pub files exactly the same way.
Can I open a .pub file on my phone?
Yes. In mobile Safari or Chrome, tap Choose files, pick the .pub from Files or an email attachment, and every page renders on screen. It's a viewer, so it's read-only on mobile — conversion exports download best on a computer.
Is my file uploaded, and is it private?
Your file is processed on the conversion server to render the pages you see, then deleted automatically within 2 hours. No account, no email, and files are never shared, indexed, or reused.
Is the viewer really free, or is it a trial?
Viewing is free forever, with no time limit and no signup. There's an optional one-time $29 unlock only if you want to convert files to editable Word, searchable PDF, or SVG — it's not a subscription and not a trial.
